MIDWAY upon the journey of our life
I found myself within a forest dark,
For the straightforward pathway had been lost.
Ah me! How hard a thing it is to say
What was this forest savage, rough, and stern,
Which in the very thought renews the fear.
So bitter is it, death is little more;
But of the good to treat, which there I found,
Speak will I of the other things I saw there.
~~Dante Alighieri, Inferno
I’m not sure if I’ve hit my midway mark on this journey I call life, but I can’t help sometimes but ask how it will end. Conventional wisdom tells us not to worry, to live each day as best we can and with no regrets. Whether it’s Dante or Shakespeare, or an Emily Dickinson poem, our stories have always held a special place for “The End.”
Well, there’s an end to our lives as individuals, and there’s also the greater end…the End of the World.
Okay, take back that image that just flashed through your mind…hmm, or maybe not? I’m doing an early kick off for THE DAY THE SUN STOPPED SHINING blog tour (which will officially start Dec. 26 and run until Dec. 31). Writers, hop on this train, and readers–get ready for a hell of a ride.
Starting tomorrow (Dec. 1), every Thursday post will be dedicated to the blog tour’s theme–The End of the World. When the tour officially starts on the 26th, every day of that week I’ll have fun and engaging posts to read which will also give you a chance to win fun prizes.
If you haven’t already, swing by writer Matthew Wood’s web fiction The Day the Sun Stopped Shining on which the blog tour is anchored 🙂
Let’s have some fun with this! See you tomorrow.
